WHO WE ARE

We are South Australian family farmers dedicated to a quality product

South Australia is renowned for its diverse and inspiring landscapes that enable farmers to grow premium products from fresh water, clear air and clean soils. Heisker Farm sits in the heart of the Fleurieu Peninsula, an hour’s drive south of Adelaide, in a landscape that is shaped by the outskirts of the Mount Lofty Ranges, the crisp sea breezes of the Southern Ocean, reliable rainfall and a Mediterranean climate.

The modern landscape is moulded from an agricultural heritage that has seen farming families across this region steward their land for many generations. The Nancarrows’ are relative new-comers to the Hindmarsh Valley, never-the-less, Lachy is the third generation to have an interest in Heisker Farm. Amber is a zero generation farmer and together they are blending old ways with new to build their 100% Fullblood Wagyu cattle herd.

We love good steak and growing our own is cheaper than buying it! The wagyu breed tweaked my interest to be part of something new and different. – Lachy Nancarrow

WHO WE ARE

The beginnings of our story

Our story starts in the 1970s when the farm was purchased by the Nancarrow family. A combination of the ideal climate, knowledge and a desire to create a great product has since brought Heisker Farm to life. From humble beginnings, our goal is to establish connections and loyal customers throughout Australia and around the world. As awareness mounts about mindful meat-eating, Australians may be consuming less meat but what they do buy is better quality and better for their health. Our cattle are caringly raised on natural pastures and we never use hormones, antibiotics or feed containing unnatural, genetically modified ingredients.

OUR VALUES

Why our product is unique

Lachy and Amber Nancarrow have a commitment to stewarding the land with respect and a mind towards its continued sustainability for generations to come. The health of the farm, its soils, water ways, scrublands and pastures supports a system that in turn supports a cherished way of life for the Nancarrow family. Our values are sustainability, wellbeing and exceptional Wagyu cattle products sourced from a community-minded, value-focused food system.

As we learn more and as the industry builds on its knowledge about this breed there’s a lot to get excited about. We invite you to come with us on our journey as we aim to produce Wagyu cattle that are up there with the best in Australia. – Amber Nancarrow

OUR FAMILY TREE

LEWY'S STORY

HOW IT ALL STARTED MEET LEWY

Heisker Lewis or ‘Lewy’, named from his tag number L001 (it looked to us like it spelt Loo-i and the name stuck), was the first fullblood wagyu calf born at Heisker Farm.

Lewy was the result of our Embryo Transfer (ET) program, where 100% Fullblood Wagyu embryos are transferred into recipient cows. This means that even though his genetics are 100% Fullblood Wagyu, he was born to a Murray Grey surrogate mother.

TAKE A LOOK AT LEWY TODAY

Lewy’s bloodlines are traceable back to the original Fullblood Wagyu foundation sires exported out of Japan to America in the 1990s. The combination of his genetics indicate that he will produce large framed animals with good carcase traits.

Now two years old, this young bull is at work in the paddock with the heifers and cows producing our first cross (F1) of Crossbred 50% Wagyu cattle.
